Our Main Contacts

Lorraine Ashover, Director

Lorraine Ashover is Managing Director of Minerva Procurement Consultancy Services Limited.  Fulfilling a long-standing ambition to be her own boss Lorraine set up Minerva in 2010 in direct response to feedback from the school bursar community and helps schools reduce cost, streamline procurement practices and save time.

The company looks after many independent and academy schools and manages significant spend on behalf of clients.  Prior to setting up Minerva, Lorraine worked for Barclays Commercial for 20 years, the last seven of which were as an Industry Specialist in the education sector.  When not working Lorraine runs after her daughter Maisie, escapes into a good crime novel and bemoans the demise of her beloved Nottingham Forest!

Steve Parker, Procurement Account Manager (Consultant)

Steve has spent over 35 years in Procurement in a variety of industries, all of them highly regulated so he is very familiar with that type of process control. He has successfully managed both service and product contracts in the past. This is his first venture into the Education sector but he will bring a wealth of experience from the other sectors he has worked in to help guide projects through successfully.

When not at work, he loves pretty much all sport but particularly Rugby, Football (Liverpool) and as many games of golf as he can fit in, even though his scores can fluctuate quite wildly!!

Laura Tesh, Tender & Compliance Officer

Laura is the newest member of the Minerva team. She has previously worked on the supplier side of tenders in the oil and gas industry.  Laura is currently studying for her Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) qualifications and with a keen interest in OJEU procurement, she is a great addition to our team.

When not at work, Laura can be found baking cakes, supporting Portsmouth Football Club and loves all things active including: running, cycling and netball.

Plum Garland, Executive Assistant

Plum joined Minerva in May 2015. Previously Plum worked at a London University and, prior to that, at a Local Authority. From her previous roles, Plum brings experience of supporting busy people with busy calendars, whilst trying to keep the office running smoothly.

When not at work, Plum can usually be found watching rugby, covered in paint and glue making something crafty, or clutching her Kindle.

Maisie Simper, Work Experience Girl

Maisie joined Minerva in 2016. Maisie has lots of knowledge and can work under pressure. She is ready to help in all situations. Whether the work is hard or easy she pushes though to find a solution. Maisie is there to help the business. She is part time and when she is off she reads, does Sudoku and word searches and also does arts and crafts.

  • “Lorraine works in a very efficient and professional manner, and she has secured considerable cost savings for my school. We particularly like the ‘unpushy’ approach. Having known her for several years I have no hesitation in recommending Lorraine and her service to any other school.“
    – Alastair Graham, Headmaster, Hall Grove School
  • Process couldn't have been easier and very happy with the outcome. Although there weren't a lot of savings to be had moving to a rolling 12 month contract is very beneficial and still cheaper than what we were paying before - thanks Minerva!
    – Jo Pedley, School Business Manager, St. Michael's Easthampstead Primary School
  • “I cannot speak highly enough of Minerva Procurement and of Lorraine Ashover and her colleagues. I have been most grateful for the advice and help given in renegotiating better deals on everything from utilities to stationery with copiers, printers and postage in between.
Lorraine is a delight to do business with and her cheerful and professional manner are always reassuring us that we are in safe hands.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain; I can highly recommend Minerva Procurement to you.”

  • This was our first experience working with Minerva and I've been very impressed and I know that other SBMs in Gloucestershire who were involved have also been very pleased with the outcome of the tender exercise. There was very little work required of us and Lorraine and her team have clearly spent a lot of time on the exercise and produced a very detailed report for each school involved, with some very positive outcomes.
    – Martin Doidge, Director of Finance and Administration, Cirencester Deer Park School
  • Thank you for all the help that you have given to me which has benefited the school. Minerva as a company have exceptionally high standards of service and you are a flag bearer for this! The expectation that companies introduced to us must also share this, is great. I love your tenacious approach to cost reduction, your understanding of school issues and, of course, the good humour that you bring with it. I would recommend you wholeheartedly and look forward to our next project.
    – Brian Dempster, Former Bursar, Ditcham Park School
  •  “I have referred a number of our independent school clients to Lorraine at Minerva. The schools have been delighted with the innovative approach Lorraine has taken to finding cost reduction solutions and some very significant savings have been made. Lorraine has great specialist skills in this sector and a very positive approach to helping clients – she is a joy to work with.”
    – Mike Farwell, Charities & Education Partner, James Cowper LLP, Accountants & Business Advisors
  • I wouldn't hesitate to use Minerva Procurement Services again in future procurement projects and would highly recommend their services. Their approach to the project was outstanding and I had absolute faith in their ability throughout all aspects of the project. This was demonstrated particularly well through the excellent communication made with all participants on a regular basis. As well as demonstrating a thorough understanding of the project requirements, they also demonstrated a willingness to listen, adapt and improve their own processes. Highly recommended!
    – Mike White, Financial Controller, Bartley Green School
  • Nathan was very responsive to our needs and kept us informed throughout the process. Communication was timely and professional, and Minerva obviously has an excellent knowledge of statutory tender requirements for public bodies. We were impressed with the service and the support provided.
