As with previous books we have recommended this is an ideal read being content rich but succinct in presentation. It’s a book you can pick up and read in less than hour but then I’d wholeheartedly recommend reading it again…..and again. The use of ‘action’ sections and helpful checklists makes this an invaluable publication. It’s a great starting point for any school thinking about how to promote themselves more positively and grow a brand to help set themselves apart from their competitors.
Why should I read it?
Every school, whether independent, maintained, academy or free, needs to be able to market itself in a positive way. Branding and PR is no longer the preserve of big companies like Coca Cola and Virgin and to get ahead these are two skills vital to the success of your school. Parents can be a discerning bunch, they can also be very vocal when they’re unhappy, so being able to master branding and PR to even a basic level is not only essential but absolutely achievable.
Excerpt of Choice
“Humblebrag (n): an ostensibly modest or self-deprecating statement whose actual purpose is to draw attention to something of which one is proud.
Done badly it looks like needy attention seeking. Done well the humblebrag is a great PR tool……..Social media, being the PR tool of the 21st century is the perfect place to practice the humblebrag.”
